About the Owner

I’m Dr. Shamir, the proud CEO and founder of PRIMES. For the past 19 years, I have been dedicated to the practice of sensory-motor therapy, specializing in supporting infants and toddlers with motor difficulties or delays. This hands-on experience has provided me with invaluable insights into the unique developmental needs of young children, enabling me to deliver the highest quality care and support to families.

I hold a B.A. in Psychology, an M.A., and a Ph.D. in Child Development. My Ph.D. thesis explored the fascinating connection between motor and communication development in preschool children from two distinct groups – children with Specific Language Impairment and children with Cerebral Palsy. My academic journey also includes seven years of lecturing and teaching university courses on topics such as sensory, motor, language, cognitive, and behavioral development, combining a strong foundation in research with practical application. This dual expertise in hands-on therapy and academic research enables me to approach child development with a comprehensive and evidence-based perspective.

I am truly excited to lead PRIMES on this journey of Pediatric Development. With our comprehensive services and a team of dedicated professionals, I am confident that PRIMES will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children we support.

Our CORE BELIEFS and Values

Start Early!

The earliest years of life represent a vital period for a child’s overall development. During these formative years, the brain and body undergo rapid growth and change, creating a unique opportunity to shape and support developmental progress. Research consistently highlights the importance of addressing developmental needs early, as young children’s brains are highly adaptable, making it possible to establish strong foundations across all areas of development.

Starting early ensures that children receive the necessary support to maximize their potential during this critical time. The early years are when motor skills, communication, cognitive abilities, and social-emotional capacities are developing in tandem, each influencing and reinforcing the other. For instance, motor development plays a crucial role in enabling exploration and interaction with the environment, which, in turn, supports learning and social engagement. Similarly, early progress in areas like language or self-regulation can enhance a child’s ability to navigate their world and form meaningful connections.

Addressing developmental needs during this period promotes smoother transitions through milestones, helping children gain confidence in their abilities and reducing the likelihood of compounding challenges later. It also equips families with the tools and knowledge to support their child’s growth effectively at home, ensuring that progress is both consistent and sustainable.

By starting early, children are positioned to build a strong and interconnected foundation that supports them across physical, cognitive, emotional, and social domains. This approach not only fosters immediate gains but also lays the groundwork for long-term success in education, relationships, and overall well-being.

Family Involvement

Family Involvement

A child’s development is deeply connected to their family environment, making the active participation of parents and caregivers essential to achieving meaningful progress. Children thrive when their parents are involved in understanding and addressing developmental needs, creating a seamless bridge between therapeutic goals and everyday life.

Parental involvement strengthens the effectiveness of therapy by ensuring that strategies and techniques are consistently reinforced at home. Parents bring invaluable insights into their child’s behaviors, preferences, and challenges, allowing therapeutic plans to be tailored to the child’s unique needs. This partnership ensures that progress made in therapy extends into the child’s natural environments, such as their home, school, and social settings.

Active family participation also enhances a child’s sense of security and confidence, as they receive continuous support and encouragement from the people they trust most. Additionally, equipping parents with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to support their child’s growth fosters a stronger connection within the family and promotes resilience.

Family involvement is not just an element of the therapeutic process—it is a cornerstone of long-term success. By empowering families to play an integral role in their child’s development, therapy becomes a collaborative journey that benefits both the child and their caregivers, creating a supportive foundation for growth and achievement.

Holistic Approach

Child development is a highly interconnected process in which various skills and abilities influence and depend on one another. A challenge in one area often creates ripple effects, impacting other domains of growth. For instance, difficulties in motor skills might limit a child’s ability to explore their environment, which can affect cognitive development and sensory integration. Similarly, delays in communication can influence social interactions and emotional regulation. Recognizing these connections, addressing developmental needs requires a comprehensive approach that considers the whole child rather than isolated challenges.

A holistic approach emphasizes the interplay between motor, cognitive, social, emotional, and sensory systems. By understanding how these areas are interrelated, it becomes possible to identify not just the visible challenges but also the underlying factors that may be contributing to them. This comprehensive view ensures that interventions target the root causes, creating pathways for more meaningful and lasting progress.

This method also accounts for the dynamic nature of development, where changes in one domain can unlock growth in others. For example, improving motor coordination can enhance a child’s ability to participate in play and learning activities, while fostering sensory integration can reduce barriers to attention and engagement. A holistic perspective allows professionals to design tailored strategies that build on a child’s strengths while addressing their specific needs in a coordinated and integrated manner.

By focusing on the broader picture of development, this approach ensures that children receive support across all interconnected aspects of growth. It not only addresses immediate challenges but also prepares children for long-term success by fostering balanced and resilient development across multiple domains.
