Barbara Leverone, M.A., a Developmental Movement Specialist, has worked with hundreds of
families with typically developing babies, as well as infants born prematurely, and babies and
toddlers with special needs. She has also helped at-risk families learn to support their babies’
development, including teenage parents, moms with post-partum depression, and substance-
exposed newborns.
She is a Certified Senior Trainer in the Child’Space Chava Shelhav Method, teaching in
certification trainings in Chicago, New York, Matsue, Japan, Vienna and Buenos Aires. Barbara’s
interest in movement education began with her own journey to address injuries from her
career as a professional dancer. She fortunately discovered the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic
Education and has spent 30+ years as a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, helping active seniors,
actors, dancers and musicians learn to move better. The Child’Space Method is based on
Feldenkrais theories and focuses on infant developmental movement and sharing that
knowledge with parents.
Her approach to building a strength-based family dynamic grew from her graduate degree in
Mental Health Counseling, and advanced supervision in Infant and Early Childhood Mental
Health. Barbara’s combined experience in movement education and social/emotional
development brings a unique perspective in supporting young parents and their children.
Testimonials
“I am more informed as a parent after working with Barbara and this program, both in-person
– Courtney
and online. I have learned tools to help each of my kids in the infant stages to move more
efficiently, ways to ‘play’, so as to strengthen their body. It has helped me watch for signs as
they have grown that they’re ready for the next stage, from rolling, sitting, crawling and
walking. This way of supporting my babies is quite amazing.”
“As a mom of a kid with special needs, I have found it amazing to work with Barbara online.
– Elisabeth
Since I am already dealing with loads of appointments for my baby, I am really grateful to learn
– in my own home – a lot about development and educated play options that clearly help my
child. I feel much more empowered and supported in raising my baby.”
“My baby and I both love to practice the exercises and activities that we learned in Barbara’s
–
class. While having fun, my child is learning more about using her body, which has stopped a
potential mobility issue – her preference to turn her head in only one direction – from
developing into a big problem. After just one session and playing with the techniques a couple
of times on our own, she was turning her head in both directions. This program is awesome!”

“We have a 22-month old son
– Doug
with special needs and we have noticed clear progress in our child’s ability to roll, crawl, sit
upright, and engage in independent play since working with Barbara. We have only met with
her through Zoom, but she’s such an outstanding instructor that this hasn’t been an issue for
us. I honestly cannot recommend her program highly enough. Let her help you; you won’t
regret it!”
